Azure Policy

Launched by Microsoft as a key component of its Azure cloud governance framework, Azure Policy helps enforce organizational standards and to assess cloud compliance at scale across Azure resources. Since its introduction, Azure Policy has enabled Azure Ops and cloud governance teams to apply a set of Azure controls that ensure Azure compliance with corporate standards and regulatory standards. It works by evaluating Azure resources in Azure subscriptions against the Azure policies defined by an Azure organization and can automatically remediate non-compliant cloud resources to align with the defined standards. This capability extends to various Azure resource types, including Azure virtual machines, Azure networks, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Azure clusters, among others. Azure Policy supports a wide range of scenarios such as ensuring that cloud resources are deployed in specific Azure regions, enforcing the use of specific Azure SKU sizes for Azure virtual machines, or ensuring that Azure resources have specific settings enabled or disabled, making it a versatile Azure tool for maintaining Azure compliance and Azure governance in the Azure cloud ecosystem.
