Intel Pentium II

The Intel Pentium II is a line of x86 microprocessors introduced by Intel in 1997 as the successor to the original Pentium processor. Operating at clock speeds ranging from 233 MHz to 450 MHz, the Pentium II featured a more advanced architecture with support for dual processor configurations and a larger on-chip cache compared to its predecessor. It also introduced the Slot 1 form factor, which utilized a cartridge-like package for easier installation. The Pentium II processors were widely used in desktop computers, workstations, and servers, offering improved performance for a variety of computing tasks. Despite facing competition from AMD's K6 and K6-2 processors, the Pentium II series remained popular among consumers and contributed to Intel's dominance in the microprocessor market during the late 1990s.
