Merit and Virtue can be said to be the combination of one's Blessings (Punya or Merit) with one's Morality of following, upholding, supporting the Five Precepts or Eight Precepts, the Vinaya of the Monk Vows (Bhikshu Vows or Bhikshuni Vows and Novice Vows or Shramanera Vows or Getsul Vows) (Moral Precepts of the Pratimoksha or Individual Liberation Vows), the Bodhisattva Precepts, the Tantric Vows or Samaya.
