TMS 1000

The TMS 1000 is a pioneering microcontroller introduced by Texas Instruments in 1974. Operating at a clock speed of around 100 kHz, it was one of the first single-chip microcontrollers, integrating CPU, ROM, RAM, and I/O peripherals onto a single chip. The TMS 1000 found widespread use in a variety of consumer electronics, including calculators, digital watches, and automotive applications, due to its compact size, low power consumption, and versatility. Its introduction marked a significant milestone in the evolution of embedded systems, laying the groundwork for the development of more sophisticated microcontrollers and paving the way for the proliferation of intelligent devices in various industries.
